Who it is for

Beginners: a first mountain bike for forest tracks without a big outlay.

Upgraders: riders with outgrown or worn-out bikes looking for the next step.

How to choose

Suspension

Hardtail bikes have a suspension fork only and are simpler, while full-suspension bikes add comfort and control on rough ground. The listing states what each model has.

Wheel size

Many modern mountain bikes use 29-inch wheels, as the Conor WRC Comp SX 29 name shows. Larger wheels roll over obstacles with ease; smaller wheels feel nimbler.

Frame size

A frame that suits your height is key to control and comfort on technical ground. Manufacturers publish charts relating height and frame size, and each product page lists the frame size.

Drivetrain and brakes

Number of gears, brake type and quality affect how the bike climbs and descends. It helps to match components with the terrain you ride most.

Riding style

Cross-country riding favours efficient climbing, trail riding balances climbs and descents, and all-mountain riding copes with steeper, rougher terrain. Matching the bike to your local trails matters more than chasing the most extreme specification.

Model year

Names include a model year, such as 2020, 2024 or 2025, which makes it simple to compare generations of the same bike.

Condition

Each listing describes the condition of the bike, and every item is checked by experts and comes with the min. 12-month warranty.

Brands and models on the page

The range features Berria and Conor. From Berria you will find the Mako 6.1 and Mako 7.1, while Conor offers the WRC range, including the WRC Thunder, Burst, Xtrem, 950, ADI and Comp SX 29. The selection changes, so the listings show the current choice.

Refurbished vs new

A refurbished mountain bike costs up to 40% less than a new one and extends the life of an existing bike, so fewer new frames are needed. That makes it more sustainable vs new.

Refurbished vs second hand

A used mountain bike from a private seller usually comes with no warranty and no professional check of brakes, suspension or drivetrain, which matters when a bike is built for rough ground. Refurbished bikes are inspected by experts, described with their condition and covered by a min. 12-month warranty.
